A ROBBER in a deerstalker hat mugged a woman for her mobile phone as she walked along a busy main road.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the robbery on Monday at around 7.55pm.

The woman was walking on the footpath on Barbara Castle Way between Whalley Range and Preston New Road, Blackburn.

A police spokesperson said: “The woman was walking along the road when a white man in his late 30s to early 40s, medium build, approximately 5ft 10in height, wearing a dark deer stalker hat, a zip-up red bomber jacket, looking gaunt and pale in appearance, approached her from behind grabbing her mobile phone causing her to fall to the floor.

“It is believed that the suspect left on a mountain bike.”

Officers say there were two individuals walking in front of the woman, one of whom gave chase to the man.

Police are now interested in speaking to those two individuals and anyone else who may have witnessed the incident. The officer on the case is DC 4216 Rubina Akoo who can be contacted on 01254 353864.
