POLICE are hunting for two men, armed with a crowbar, who tried to force their way into a house in the middle of the day.

Officers are appealing for information to track down the culprits of an attempted burglary.

At around 11.30am, two men knocked on the victim's front door in Holcombe Road, Greenmount.

Just 10 minutes later, the pair returned to the same door and knocked again.

Confirming that the homeowners were out, both men went to the back garden, forcing a wooden gate. They then used a crowbar to try and force the patio door open.

The security system was activated and the offenders fled on foot before they managed to get into the home.

No-one was injured and the offenders left empty handed, however they left a significant amount of damage to the property.

At the time of the incident the offenders were both described as wearing high-visibility vests. One is further described as wearing blue jeans and the other was described as wearing cargo trousers.
