A DRIVER was rushed to hospital after his foot got caught around the pedals and he crashed into a car park barrier.

A man was taken to hospital after his car smashed into the barrier inside The Octagon car park.

Just after 8am this morning, the driver was pulling into the car park in his automatic car when his foot got caught in the accelerator.

Unable to untangle his foot, the car started and he sped along the ground floor, colliding with the barrier, The Bolton News understands.

A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service said ambulances arrived at the scene at around 8.13am and the man, in his 50s, was taken to hospital with head and hip injuries after the incident.

He was forced to leave his car, which remained cordoned off in the car park for hours afterwards.
