Police looking for the driver of a car that caused damage to a bowling green have apprehended the culprit.

On October 21 at 8.15pm, a vehicle was driven into Victory Park in West Close Road, Barnoldswick, causing damage to the grass.

On Monday, a 19-year-old man from Barrowford admitted under caution causing some of the damage to the field.

A spokesperson for the police said: "This male has been offered a police community resolution which is hoped will go some way in preventing further damage and anti-social behaviour in the park.

"The male also received a Section 59 warning which will prevent him from using a vehicle in such a manner for at least the next 12 months or face having his vehicle seized."

A police community resolution seeks to prevent re-offending by encouraging the offender to think about their behaviour and allows the offender to make good the loss, damage or harm caused to the victim.

Details of this resolution, if agreed with the council, will be communicated on the Colne police Facebook page at a later date.
