A TOWN centre pub has been chosen by Hyndburn MP Graham Jones as his entry for the Parliamentary Pub of the Year Awards.
The Black Dog in Union Road, Oswaldtwistle, won a vote to become the Labour backbencher’s nomination for the annual contest.
Mr Jones said: “I’m very happy to put forward the Black Dog as Hyndburn’s nomination. Emma and the team do a fantastic job in making the Black Dog a real community pub where everyone is welcome. They make a real effort to support Oswaldtwistle and bring the community together.”
Landlady Emma Kearney said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have been chosen and knowing that it was down to people in the area nominating the Black Dog makes it even more special. Since taking on the pub three years ago, we have been passionate about providing a pub that meets the needs of the whole community. Hopefully we will do Oswaldtwistle proud.”
Thwaites’ director of pubs Andrew Buchanan, said: “We are incredibly proud that The Black Dog has been recognised in this way.”
