TWO men have been charged after burglars armed with machetes and a crowbar attacked a homeowner.

Police were called to reports of a break-in at a house on Dunham Road in Warburton shortly before 9pm on Monday, September 16.

The burglars smashed through a glass patio door with machetes and a crowbar and threatened the family inside.

They then attacked the homeowner before taking a quantity of jewellery and fleeing in the victim’s Mercedes AMG.

Thirty-eight-year-old Stuart Watson, from Manchester, has been charged with robbery in connection with the incident and will appear before Manchester Magistrates Court next month.

He has been released on bail until that date.

Jack Yarwood, from Salford, has also been charged with aggravated burglary and handling stolen goods.

The 33-year-old has been remanded in custody and is now due to appear at Manchester Crown Court in December.

A third man, aged 32, who was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary has been released under investigation.
