THERE has been great excitement at the announcement that Warrington's Cineworld will open in December.
It will be the first town centre cinema in Warrington since August 1994.
That was the year that the Buttermarket Street Odeon closed for the final time.
These rare pictures of the inside of the former Odeon show a glimpse of what picture houses looked like at the time.
Rather than a 13-screen cinema which is coming to Time Square, this had three screens.
It was demolished as Odeon opened its then new multiplex at Westbrook.
And they show the familiar fronting to the cinema which shut in August 1994.
The last film to be shown at the Odeon was Speed, starring Keanu Reeves. Adult tickets were available for £2.50.
The building was then demolished in February 1995.
Cineworld confirmed on Tuesday that it will open in Time Square on December 11.
Boasting 13 screens, a Starbucks and Baskin Robbins, one of the first films it will show will be Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
