A MAN has appeared in the dock accused of sexually assaulting a woman as she walked home from a night out.

Brooklyn Adam Cross, 20, of Bank Parade, Burnley, appeared before Blackburn magistrates yesterday where he spoke to confirm his name, address and nationality.

No plea was entered to the single charge of sexual assault which is said to have taken place in Newchurch Road, Stacksteads, at 12.15am on October 19.

Cross was given conditional bail, including a curfew between 7pm and 7am, to appear before a judge at Burnley Crown Court on November 20.

Police had issued a CCTV appeal following an incident in which officers said a man initially spoke to a woman, who is in her 30s, before touching her inappropriately.

As she began to walk away he is said to have grabbed her, touching her inappropriately for a second time.

As she walked away again the man is said to have grabbed her and pushed her to the floor.

At this point the woman began to scream and the man ran off.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting log 54 of October 19.
