HOMES across East Lancashire have been without water for several hours after two separate leaks.

United Utilities were called to Ash Lane in Great Harwood at 8.50am and Church Street in Burnley at 8.30am today after several calls were made about little or no water pressure.

A United Utilities spokesman said changes were made to the network in order to bring the water supply back to customers in the BB6 and BB10 and BB11 areas.

The spokesman said: "Our inspector has confirmed that a leak on Ash Lane is the cause of some of you having low pressure or no water this morning.

"Our team of engineers have been requested to attend and carry out the necessary repairs.

"We're sorry for any inconvenience this may be causing and thank you for bearing with us.

"We will update this message with the team’s progress."
