A COUNTRY inn has been nominated for the Parliamentary Pub of The Year competition by Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson.
He held a facebook poll to select his entry for the contest which has a National Final at the House of Commons. His choice is The Pendle Inn at Barley.
Foreign office minister Mr Stephenson said: “The Parliamentary Pub of The Year competition offers MPs the opportunity to nominate their constituency’s favourite boozer. This award focuses on celebrating pubs in our community
“The main criteria for nomination is a pub that is great at what they do, this can include the range of beer or food, its dedication to serving the community or a specialism in music or sports. More than 700 people voted with the Pendle Inn, Barley coming out on top, with the Crown Hotel, Colne and the Europa Bar, Nelson finishing second and third respectively. The Pendle Inn proved popular for its warm welcome and tasty food.
"I certainly enjoy visiting whenever I can.”
