ANOTHER high-end hotel is set to throw open its doors tomorrow and increase competition for conferences and special events across East Lancashire.

The £12.9million project at Crow Wood has seen the creation of a top-class hotel and spa resort, set in 40 acres of parkland.

Hotel bosses have also confirmed that the Hampton By Hilton, under construction at Whitebirk, is set to open next summer.

The developments have also come after the Lancashire Telegraph revealed last week that Stanley House, the historic hotel and spa at Mellor, has been sold to an unnamed buyer.

For the owners of Crow Wood, which is also home to the award-winning Woodland Spa, Bertram's restaurant and Soccer Burnley, the 76-bed hotel is the culmination of a long-held dream.

Andrew Brown, the hotel's managing director, said: "It's nice to do something for the town, and to repay the town, which has certainly been very good to me."

A new restaurant and bar, Wilfred's, is also coming online at the new hotel, under the same culinary team as Bertram's, each of which will be overseen by executive chef Spencer Burge.

Last week members of the Burnley Bondholders scheme were given a preview tour of the Royle Lane development, which received planning permission from then Communities Secretary Sajid Javid in November 2016.

A Burnley Bondholders spokesman said: "We are so proud to have this wonderful new facility in Burnley and we can't wait for it to be officially open to the public next week.

"The venue is also a fantastic boost for the local economy bringing new visitors to Burnley and the surrounding area."

Work is also still ongoing to convert the former Wheat Sheaf pub, in Mincing Lane, Blackburn, into a Best Western Hotel.
