UNITED Utilities are to carry out a CCTV survey of a culvert blamed for flooding on a residential road.

Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson has been in touch with the company and Lancashire County Council about the problem on Reedyford Road, Nelson.

He said: "The issue relates to a blockage/failure on a private culverted water course that crosses the former John Wilman site off Reedyford Road.

"As the road gullies in this area of Reedyford Road discharge into the adjacent water course via this culvert this creates regular incidents of flooding in this area.

"Whilst this issue relates to a private culvert, Lancashire County Council has been working alongside United Utilities and Pendle Borough Council to enable further investigations to be undertaken with the landowners of the former John Wilman site to locate the positions on the culvert where failures have occurred and enable repairs to be undertaken.

"They have appointed a new site agent and arrangements have been made with them to allow United Utilities to carry out a CCTV survey of the culvert alongside Pendle Borough Council and Lancashire County Council this month."
