ZOMBIES took over The Mall in Blackburn – for a thrill-seeking experience visitors would never forget.

Wicked Experiences brought its award-winning ‘Zombie Nightmare’ themed event to the town for the second year running on Friday and Saturday night.

Thrill-seekers were taken on a journey near Boots store in The Mall with the moans and groans of the undead ringing in their ears – and then found their way through empty units, visiting the loading bay and also car park area.

Wicked Experiences and Director Ash Gamon, said: “The zombie apocalypse is about finding a cure and surviving the zombies for an hour.

“This year we’ve got more zombies, more thrills, and a new route, to make it more terrifying.

“We love coming to Blackburn as The Mall is the perfect place for the experience, and people will get to go to areas of The Mall they’ve never been to before.

“I love the reactions of people and they say it’s fantastic to go to and get a thrill."

Jason Cothliff from The Mall says the event has been as successful as last year and organisers have been getting a lot of engagement on social media when they announced it was returning.

He said: “There are other things out there like Scare Kingdom to scare people but I think this so different as they are seeing the shopping centre in a different light.

“It is a bit surreal when the players are being chased by zombies.

“Wicked Experiences have a great cast and they go for the theatrical and everyone is scared by it and they work together to try to get though it.

“Last year was the first year and I went down there and it went really well and people from last year were tagging in friends to do it again this year.

“There was a different route this year as people entered at Ainsworth Street near the Pure Gym and I think it was better and they used more empty space to piece together the clues to find the cure.

“It is great – there is something for everyone. We hope they will come back next year."
