A NEW guide hailing the country's best restaurants has been unveiled — featuring 24 across Lancashire.

The Restaurant Guide 2020 contains restaurants currently awarded Rosettes for culinary excellence by the AA’s professional inspectors.

Among the best restaurants in the county are The Millstone in Mellor, the White Swan at Fence and Bertram’s Restaurant in Burnley.

A spokesman for Bertram’s said: "Bertram’s is extremely proud to be a 2 AA Rosette Restaurant.

"Using local seasonal ingredients on the menu is a priority, after all, we have so much amazing produce right here in the heart of Lancashire that we are lucky enough to have on our door step."

A spokesman for The White Swan said: "I would say that being in the AA guide is a very welcome recognition of what we do at The White Swan.

"To have our business listed alongside some of the biggest names in the industry is an honour."

Louis Webb, acting general manager at The Millstone, Mellor, said: “For us it’s about finding a balance between pub food and fine dining.

“We aim to provide the warmest of welcomes and good food for all restaurant diners and hotel guests.”

Northcote Restaurant in Langho and two restaurants in Whalley – The Freemasons at Wiswell and Breda Murphy Restaurant – are also included.

Steven Smith, owner and chef at The Freemasons at Wiswell, said: “We have three rosettes and there are not a lot of pubs that have that.

“It’s a great pat on the back to the rest of the team that make everything happen.”

A spokeswoman for Northcote Restaurant said: “We are always delighted to be represented in the AA Restaurant Guide.”

All the eateries have been recognised with Rosettes to mark them out as some of the best dining destinations in the country.

Simon Numphud, managing director at AA Media, said: “We are pleased to see the hospitality industry going from strength to strength, with over 140 new dining destinations being added to The Restaurant Guide 2020.

“The establishments in this year’s Guide demonstrate the high quality of culinary experiences across the country, offering delicious food and impeccable service.”

The 27th edition of the Guide contains over 2000 eateries throughout Britain and Ireland.
