TWO years of hard work enabled Parents' Associations of Witton Park Senior High School to present the school with a new mini-bus.

Frank Shuttleworth, chairman of the association said: "It is no longer county policy to provide schools with a minibus, so we have to provide one with our own resources.

"It means the children can go out on trips which could cost the earth of private transport were used. The minibus is large enough to take the football team or hockey team and a teacher."

The £2,000 for the mini-bus was raised through jumble sales, auctions, raffles, Christmas and Summer fairs and other sponsored activities.

John Staniforth, deputy head, who was responsible for the school side of activities which raised the money, said: "All teachers played a part in raising the money by helping with the activities such as the fairs."
