THE trustees of a historic East Lancashire theatre have announced details of a major fundraising event next month.

The Burnley Empire's 125th Big Birthday Dinner Party will take place on November 8 at 7pm in the 1882 Lounge of Burnley Football Club's Turf Moor stadium.

The evening includes a three-course dinner, entertainment and exclusive recent footage from inside the historic Cow Lane venue.

A spokesman for the Burnley Empire Theatre Trust which is seeking to restore the building and bring it back into use, said: "The 125th Big Birthday Dinner Party is an exclusive evening of music, magic, and mirth in the 'Music Hall' tradition.

"Inspired by the Burnley Empire heyday of variety, it will be an evening of sleight of hand wizardry, comedy, music and juggling from talented performers who have entertained audiences across the world, from the Glastonbury Festival to the Magic Castle in Holywood. All have local connections and support the theatre's restoration and reopening."

Tickets are on sale at £25.
