PLANS have been drawn up seeking to demolish a store room and create a retail premises in Rainhill.

Applicant Ricky Sum has drawn up proposals for a new shop on land next to 5 Exchange Place, Rainhill.

Plans state: "The proposal is to demolish the existing single storey redundant storage unit and redevelop the site with a two storey building attached to the existing adjoining cottages.

"The new development would comprise a small ground floor retail unit and attached yard, with a residential one bedroom flat above."

The application adds: "We feel that our proposals would not only put to good use a site which has been for many years redundant but at the same time, if sensitively handled, provide an opportunity to remove an element completely out of character with its surroundings and enhance and reinforce the character of the conservation area."

Plans are on consultation until Wednesday, October 30.
