Tributes have been left at the bridge where a 17-year-old girl had fallen from.

Several bunches of flowers were placed on the bridge which overlooks the A56 in Haslingden, near The Woolpack pub, after the girl fell from the bridge at around 1pm on Monday.

Police have renewed their appeal for witnesses who saw the incident, and anything leading up to it, to come forward.

Officers confirmed yesterday the teenager died a short while after the fall.

Her death is not thought to be suspicious.

Several bunches of colourful flowers were left on the bridge, and some included thoughtful messages.

The messages included "you will always be remembered. RIP" and "fly high with the angels sweetheart, RIP."

A police spokesman said: "The woman’s next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with them and the rest of her family and friends at this difficult time.

"A file will be prepared for HM Coroner.

"Shortly after 1pm yesterday emergency services attended a report that a female had fallen from a bridge over the A56, Haslingden. the female, aged 17, sadly died a short time later.

"Witnesses are asked to call 101, log 674 of October 14."
