The Chair of Carmarthenshire County Council, Councillor Kevin Madge, has pledged to take part in the Boxing day Walrus Dip at Pembrey Country Park.
Cllr Madge, member for Garnant, will brace the chill and plunge into the cold waters as part of his support to the Trussell Trust, which supports a nationwide network of food banks and emergency food provision for people in crisis. Cllr Madge continues to raise funds for the Ammanford, Carmarthen and Llanelli Food Banks.
He said: "It is a service that is close to my heart. As chairman of the Garnant family centre I know how much people in the Amman Valley rely on the food bank. It makes such a difference to their lives.
"I hope to gain lots of support from people in the run up to the famous Boxing day dip."
