DINO Maamria has given a blunt assessment of his Oldham squad after the EFL Trophy defeat to Accrington.

Stanley were 3-0 winners at Boundary Park on Tuesday night in a game where the Latics boss gave some fringe players a chance to impress.

Maamria was left lamenting the depth of his squad though as attentions turn to Saturday’s trip to Mansfield in League Two.

“Some of the lads gave everything,” he said.

“I’ve got to mention Christopher Missilou, Mohamad Sylla, I thought the back four worked really hard, Thomas (Hamer) got through 90 minutes and I didn’t want him to play 90 minutes.

“Then I look at the other side of it and some of the lads who played are just not of the level I need them to be, nowhere near the level.

“That’s something to find out. It’s going to be very difficult because we’ve got no depth in the squad whatsoever and we’re crying out for forwards and we’ve got no forwards.

“We’ve got young Kielen (Adams) and we’ve got (Scott) Wilson, who tries.

“It’s quite difficult. You come in and you try to work on certain things but the more I’m finding out about the squad players the more I realise what I’ve got to work with until January.”
