A MAN who went into Accrington police station to make a complaint ended up being arrested.

Blackburn magistrates heard James Andrew French became abusive when he was told the incident he was complaining about was a civil matter and nothing to do with the police.

French, 31, of High Street, Rishton, pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour. He was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £85 costs and £24 victim surcharge.

Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said French went into the police station at 3.30pm and abused civilian staff who told him his complaint was a civil matter and nothing to do with the police.

"An officer was called to deal with the defendant and he threatened to break his jaw," said Miss Allan.

Ian Huggan, defending, said his client did not agree with the police appraisal of his complaint.

"He was frustrated and let his frustrations get the better of him," said Mr Huggan.

"He accepts he was disorderly and he apologises through me for his behaviour."
