A FORMER headteacher born and bred in East Lancashire has celebrated her 100th birthday.
Anne Egan marked her 100th birthday with a party at Springhill care home in Accrington.
Anne was born in Padiham in 1919 and attended St John's primary school with her two sisters Margaret and Teresa.
She was then educated at Notre Dame grammar school, Blackburn, and later at a teacher training college in Fenham, Newcastle on Tyne.
She taught at St Anne's Primary School, Accrington, for many years, eventually becoming head teacher of the infant school until her retirement.
She enjoyed travelling to France and Ireland visiting friends and relatives.
She lived in the family home in Burnley Road, Accrington, with her late sister Margaret for most of her life until moving to Springhill care home in 2014.
