TODAY is World Vegetarian Day and to pay homage to all the veggies in East Lancs, the Lancashire Telegraph has formed a list of places for you to eat at.

1. Ego at the Knowles Arms – Pleckgate Road, Blackburn

Lancashire Telegraph:

This Mediterranean restaurant does not disappoint with their vegetarian-friendly menu.

It offers diners a choice of vegetarian starters, including breaded Camembert, wedges served with mixed leaves and cranberry compote.

Among main courses, there is roast Mediterranean vegetable and feta tart, halloumi kebab Margherita pizza, pasta and a selection of vegan dishes too.

They also have a lunch menu and a separate vegan menu if nothing on the vegetarian list appeals.

2. The Dog Inn, Belthorn Road, Belthorn

Lancashire Telegraph:

A gem to its locals, The Dog Inn is a community freehouse, with a history that could have seen it close.

Despite all the odds, the community stuck together to keep the pub, and it now boasts a vegetarian and vegan menu.

Although, it is not open on Tuesday, it’s worth the wait to try the grilled cauliflower steak, the local squash and sage risotto, and even the vegetarian butterscotch sauce and vanilla ice cream.

3. One Sixty, St James's St, Burnley

Lancashire Telegraph:

Specialising in vegetarian and vegan food, this lunch time café is creative when it comes to veggie dishes.

Every day, the café focusses on a veggie special, such as the stuffed portobello mushroom with tomato compote, fondant potato, savoy cabbage and a tomato and white wine emulsion.

Or try the roast butternut squash risotto with grilled asparagus.

Everything on the menu is for vegetarians and vegans, so there is no worry over limited choices.
