A POLICE sergeant was kicked repeatedly after he and a colleague confronted a woman in her own home over concerns she was drunk in charge of children.
Blackburn magistrates heard when police entered the house in Barrowford they found a scene of “devastation” in the kitchen with broken plates and glassed all over the place.
They found Jane Hanson in a bedroom drunk and she had to be wrapped in a duvet to prevent her kicking out as she was arrested.
Hanson, 56, of Bolton Grove, Barrowford, pleaded guilty to assaulting an emergency worker. She was made subject to a community order for nine months with 15 days' rehabilitation, fined £50 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £90 victim surcharge.
Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said when she saw the officers Hanson said they had no right to be in her house. “She kicked the sergeant on the shin,” said Miss Allan. “She was told to calm down but kicked the officer three times on the leg and in the groin.”
Glen Smith, defending, said the behaviour displayed by his client was not typical of her.
