A stash of £2,500 in cash was found in a car by police.

The money was seized from a black Vauxhall Corsa when the driver ran from the vehicle after being chased by police in Great Harwood.

The incident, which is being investigated happened on Saturday at around 1.30pm.

Officers in the area had signalled for the driver of the vehicle to stop after they became suspicious of his activity.

The driver sped off while the police were in pursuit, and turned into Park Street, but found he was at a dead end, so he and another male passenger, exited the vehicle and made off from the scene.

A spokesperson for the police said: "The occupants of the vehicle ran off after turning down a dead end.

"However, they forgot to take their £2,500 with them but it's ok, we'll keep it safe until they want to come and claim it.

"Our enquiries remain ongoing."

If anyone saw the chase and recognised the driver then they can contact the police via email 4075@lancashire.pnn.police.uk, alternatively, anyone with any information relating to the driver should call 101 quoting log reference 822 of September 28.
