A mental health weekend is being held at an East Lancashire park.

The Friends of Rhyddings Park will be hosting the event to celebrate World Mental Health Day on October 10.

Across the weekend, free activities will take place at the Coach House and Kitchen Garden, which are both situated within Rhyddings Park, including a bootcamp, zen yoga, pilates, qigong (breathing techniques) and a well-being and mindfulness exercise.

The group, which is made up of volunteers have been working with Hyndburn Borough Council , Newground and other partners to deliver free or low cost well being activities specifically reflecting the NHS’s five steps to well being, which are connect, learn, be active, take notice and give to others.

Rhyddings Park was lucky enough to receive a Heritage Lottery Grant for the renovation of the Coach House and extensive development including the Kitchen Garden and Performance Area.

The average weekly footfall through the Coach House is more than 200 people and the café, in the longer term, will be hoping to fund more well-being and creative activities delivered by FoRP.
