A husband and wife who 'didn't want to be fat parents waiting at the school gates' are celebrating a weightloss milestone after losing five stones between them.

Gaining weight during her pregnancy with son, James, Mairi Foye was left feeling emotionally and physically drained.

The 33-year-old mum-of-one said that when the pounds crept on, she felt a dramatic loss in confidence and needed to do something about it.

That's when the healthcare assistant from Barnoldswick decided to step through the doors of her local weight watchers group.

She said: "I started at weight watchers at the end of April after a recommendation from my mother-in-law.

"I'd tried other plans but had failed, but now my food habits have changed for the better.

"Nothing is off limits, I can have anything I want if I plan my week right.

"The WW app makes the plan so easy as I'm able to see what is high in points and put it back on the supermarket shelf.

"I’m a takeaway girl so I still have my favourite Chinese on a Friday night but I eat more of what I should and now have a lot more energy."

Within 10 weeks, by switching out fatty foods and for fruit and veg and lean meats, Mrs Foye had dropped three dress sizes, taking her from a size 18 to a size 12.

And what's more, is that seeing the weight fall off inspired husband, Gareth, 38, to shed the pounds too, and so far he's lost more than two stone.

Mrs Foye added: "It's easier to cook one meal for both of us rather than two separate meals.

"I was just over 16st and now I'm 13st 7lbs.

"Gareth was 17st and now he's 14st 6lbs.

"We didn't want to be fat parents waiting at the school gate so the time to make a change was now before our son starts school.

"At least now we can play football with him and not struggle."
