A MULTI-faith gathering was staged in Burnley to mark International Word Peace Day.
Building Bridges and Churches Together in Burnley united representatives from across the town in the Peace Garden, in Place de Vitry sur Seine.
Ex-councillor Mozaquir Ali was critical of the role of the United Nations, in tackling the Kashmiri crisis.
And Cllr Bea Foster recounted her recent trip to Palestine, where she said she saw the suffering endured by locals.
Prayers were also delivered by Muslim, Christian, Jewish and Baha'i faith leaders from their own respective scriptures.
Cllr Anne Kelly, Mayor of Burnley, who attended the event with her consort and husband John, said: "It was a thought-provoking community service, where all faiths came together for each one us to reflect on what part we can all play for peace in our world."
The UN-backed day of peace has been staged globally each year since 1981.
