FOUR hostelries in East Lancashire are set to battle it out to be named pub of the year at a prestigious gathering.

The Ribchester Arms, The Butlers Arms in Pleasington, Mellor's Spread Eagle and The Millstone have all been nominated, with The Continental in Preston, for the Taste Lancashire prize.

Part of the county's 2019 tourism awards, the region is well-represented in several other categories.

Air Unlimited at Burnley and Wigwam Holidays Village in Langho are vying for the new business gong.

And Samlesbury Hall, Ribble Valley View and Rossendale Holiday Cottages are camping and holiday park contenders.

Rachel McQueen, Chief Executive of Marketing Lancashire said: "The county’s £4.25 billion visitor economy is a major contributor to the wider Lancashire economy and together our tourism businesses help attract over 67 million visitors.

"Every year we’re incredibly proud to field a spectacular list of finalists."

The winners will be announced at the Pleasure Beach Arena in Blackpool on November 7.
