LOSTOCK AC's Andrew Morley put in a fine display to finish fourth in his age group in the inaugural Snowdon Skyline race in Wales.
Part of the UK and Ireland Skyrunner series, the 22-mile race with 3,160 metres of climbing, started in the heart of Snowdonia and visited the summits of Snowdon, Glyder Fach, Glyder Fawr and Tryfan among others by some of the most technical descents and exposed ridges in the UK, including the notorious Crib Goch.
Hampered by unseasonal wind, rain and fog, Morley finished 17th overall in a field of some of the best mountain and fell runners in the UK in a time of 7hrs 17mins 38secs.
Closer to home, Daniel Colgan completed his first ultramarathon – the Red Rose 50.
Starting and finishing at Jumbles Sailing Club in Edgworth, the unrelenting route visits many of the landmarks in the West Pennine Moors including Rivington Pike and Darwen Jubilee Tower.
He was ably supported by fellow Lostockers, veteran fell and ultra runners Albert Sunter and Mark Sammon.
Anthony Maxwell and Sheila Garewal both achieved 10k personal bests at the Bury 10k with times of 48:37 and 55:29 respectively, having warmed up the previous day at Bolton parkrun with steady times of 29:50 and 29:51.
