DOZENS of people turned put yesterday to renovate a community hub.

The team of volunteer workers took part in ‘The Big Revamp Day’ at Roman Road Library and Gym in Blackburn.

The event was being organised by energy company Engie, based at Walker Office Park.

The volunteers got involved in variety of tasks including repainting the main room, smaller office and entrance.

The team also undertook a variety of gardening jobs including digging over add replanting the main garden area, trimming back bushes, reviving tired painters, and weeding and jet washing

The also replaced and repaired where necessary the wooden fascia around the building part of which were falling off and apart

Blackburn South-East ward's Cllr Andy Kay said: “This is a great local library and community centre in our area run by Healthy Living and a group of brilliant volunteers. It’s used by so many people, both young and old, but it did need a bit of love and attention.”
