The parents of three medical students hosted a celebration after their eldest child qualified as a doctor.

Yasmin and Hafeez Buttar held the celebration in honour of their son, Dr Hamid Nasir Buttar who graduated from Brighton & Sussex Medical School this summer. And soon to follow in his footsteps will be Salman and Hania.

The parents were featured in Asian Image earlier this year and spoke of their pride at raising three medical students.

The event took place at the Shahi Qila Restaurant in Blackburn. Relatives, family friends and teachers joined the family in celebrating Hamid’s success.

It was hosted by human rights activist, columnist and radio host Rubina Khan and began with a recitation from the Holy Quran followed by English translation by Nasir Buttar.

A welcome address was given by Hamid’s mum, Yasmin Buttar which was followed by speeches by Hamid’s father and sister, Hafeez and Hania Buttar as well as other guest speakers. 

There was a short video presentation put together by Hamid’s cousin, Omar Buttar.

Guests were treated to a comedy session by Gurbachan Chaddah and live music by Akram Babar and Jigtar Singh Shahry.
