FIVE new faces have been taken on to help boost a Blackburn accountancy firm.

Pierce Chartered Accountants is the latest firm in the sector to expand in the wake of the government's Making Tax Digital initiative.

Accounts trainees John Farnworth, Sarah Farragher and Georgina Dewhurst will join their online services team.

And Karen Rhodes and Stephen Evans have come in as payroll administrator and on a one-year placement respectively.

Jimmy King, managing director at Pierce, which recently celebrated its 90th anniversary, said: "It is fantastic to welcome five new members to our team.

"Each of them brings valuable knowledge and experience, spanning digital tax, accounts and client services.

"Our new trainees will benefit from on-going training and support and guidance from senior members of our team.

"The business has had a great start to 2019. With our new recruits on board, we’re hoping to have an even stronger finish to the year."

The appointments take their roster to 65.
