THE curtain goes up on 80th anniversary commemorations of the start of the Second World War today.
Horwich Heritage’s Second World War exhibition will open at Horwich Community Centre in Beaumont Road at 10am, followed by a book launch.
This afternoon there will be a performance of Go Go Theatre Company’s Production of Ways and Means, a wartime drama inspired by a true story written by Lynda Gray and Cara Novotny.
Jimmy is a young lad in desperate need of a pair of football boots, who comes from a humble family with aspirations of joining the Bolton Wanderers, but has his dreams put on the line when the war breaks out.
The play is free, is intended to educate as well as entertain and is suitable for children.
Go Go Theatre Company is run by over 50s wanting to make drama and theatre accessible to all ages.
Horwich Heritage also meets on Tuesday at 7.30pm at Horwich Community Centre when David Kaye will be talking about the C.H.A.R.M. of Rivington. Members free, visitors £2.
