RESIDENTS described seeing smoke come from a bedroom window in a house fire.
Firefighters were called to the blaze in Granby Street, in Burnley, at 8.36am on Wednesday and crews tackled the fire for four hours.
A fire service spokesman said: "At 8.36am two fire engines from Burnley and Nelson attended a building fire on Granby Street, Burnley.
"On arrival crews found one domestic terraced building alight and firefighters used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel to bring the fire under control.
"Crews were at the scene for four hours."
A number of residents spoke of seeing plumes of smoke.
One nearby resident, who reported the fire, said: "I was woken up early by the fire and saw smoke coming from the bedroom window.
"So I rang the fire service and I saw two engines arrive.
"There was a man who lived there but he moved out a few days ago so no one was in there and it's all boarded up now."
Another resident added: "I saw plumes of smoke coming from the bedroom window and there were fire engines and a police van outside."
