Two men have been charged with the murder of Barry Tyrie.

John Taylor, 57, and Daniel Taylor, 30, both of Blackburn Road, Haslingden, are due to appear before Blackburn Magistrates’ Court this morning.

Police were called at about 10.20pm on Sunday to a report of a fight outside Regent Street Working Men’s Club in the town during which Mr Tyrie, 69, received serious injuries.

Despite the efforts of police and paramedics at the scene he sadly died at hospital.

Four men aged 57, 25, 30 and 31 from Haslingden were originally arrested on suspicion of murder.

The 25-year-old man and 31-year-old men were released without charge after police ruled out their involvement.

Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Willis, said: “Our thoughts remain with Barry’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“Throughout this inquiry the community of Haslingden have been incredibly co-operative and I would like to thank them for their support.”
