AN EIGHT-YEAR-OLD Blackburn Rovers fan got over the disappointment of the 0-0 draw with Cardiff City by getting a match shirt from her favourite player.

Sophie Rogers became a season-ticket holder at Ewood Park earlier this season and she designed a special banner for star player Bradley Dack.

Her banner read: “Super Bradley Dack. Please can I have your shirt?” but was surprised by the reaction she got ahead of the Championship game.

Dad Steve Rogers said: “She put the banner up and shouted Bradley and he gave her a thumbs-up.

“I was a bit sceptical when he came off in the 71st minute whether he would do anything.

“But he came back 10 minutes later and gave the shirt to her.

“She only came up with idea on the morning and wanted to do a banner so she did the writing and coloured it in and then we got some corner flags from the back garden and put them up.

“She loves the shirt and has even taken it to bed with her. I thought I might have been able to try it on but she has not put it down since she got it.

“I have coached football and been around football teams and I did not really think he would do it and I am really humbled he did.”

Steve added that he thinks Rovers will start to pick up some form soon.

He said: “Sophie was disappointed with the result but the highlight was seeing her run across the concourse with his shirt.

“I thought Rovers played OK but just have to get scoring goals.

“We have been keeping possession well but hopefully they can turn it into goals.

“It is the first time Sophie has had a season ticket and now her sister Lily, four, will be coming to matches too.

“I have been a Blackburn Rovers fan for 30 years but I used to play football. Now I have an opportunity to take them.”
