A 35-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with committing robbery at a Betfred bookmakers in St Helens town centre.
Christopher Heffey, 35 of Charles Street, St Helens has been charged with the incident at the betting shop on Bickerstaffe Street, St Helens on Tuesday, August 13.
Police have also charged Heffey with robbery at D&T Wines, on Standish Street, St Helens on Saturday, August 10.
The businesses are a short distance from each other.
Heffey, charged with two counts of robbery and possession of a claw hammer, was remanded in custody and appeared at Sefton Magistrates' Court on Saturday.
The case was sent to Liverpool Crown Court where Heffey will next appear on Monday, September 16.
