SIX people have suffered serious injuries following a two-car crash.

Emergency services were called to reports of the crash, involving two Volkswagen Golfs, in Lostock Lane at about 6.30pm on Wednesday.

Two people — a 23-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man — who were both in the first VW Golf — suffered serious injuries and were rushed to hospital where they are said to be stable.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing an overturned car and several emergency services vehicles at the scene of the crash.

Four people who were in the second VW Golf — a 21-year-old man, a 22-year-old man and two 23-year-old men — were taken to hospital with serious injuries. They are said to be in a stable condition.

Two other people who were in the same car were also taken to hospital and were taken into police custody when they were released.

An investigation has now been launched into whether the collision is linked to another incident which happened a short time earlier on the same road when offenders damaged a parked BMW car and made off in a VW Golf car.

Officers are now looking to speak to anyone who may have dash-cam footage from the area around the time of the incident.

Anyone with information should contact Detective Sergeant Craig Wallace of GMP’s Bolton District on 0161 856 5757, quoting incident number 2554 of 14/08/19.
