JOLLY Butcher clinched the Altrincham and Sale Round the Board Darts Summer League by the thinnest of margins on the final day.

Long-time leaders Cringlewood had been title favourites going into the final round at the top and needing to win both halves against Timperley Cons to take the title.

Things started well with a 3-2 win but in the final leg of the second half, they lost out as Cons won to earn a share of the points.

All eyes then fell on the match between Jolly Butcher and Carters Arms.

Cringlewood needed the Carters to win either half or lose both but take at least two legs so that it would be a draw at the top of the table, however Butcher had their own ideas and showed their true class by taking the match 5-0, 5-0 to win the league by just two legs after both teams finished on 32 points.

Cons were third with 30 points, while Budenburgs took fourth after an impressive 4-1, 3-2 win against Central A, who finished sixth.

British Rail, with 4-1, 3-2 victory against Navigation, ended in fifth place as their opponents were ninth.

Central B required a double win against Railway Hale to push themselves up the table which they did, but only just against a tenacious Railway side – the final result 4-1, 3-2 in favour of Central B who ended up seventh while Railway Hale were 10th.

Carters finished in eighth after their loss to the champions.
