FIREFIGHTERS from Blackburn were called last night to assist police with a stand-off in Lancaster.
A man was arrested during the early hours of Wednesday morning after spending more than 27 hours on the roof of a home on Alexandra Road in Skerton.
Personnel including police negotiators were sent to the address after the man accessed the roof while police were trying to conduct a search of his home on Monday.
But the man, in his 20s, refused to come down, instead throwing tiles and pieces of debris down into the road.
It is believed that the crew from Blackburn were sent to offer any assistance if needed.
Specially trained officers were sent to the scene and a cordon was put in place.
But during the early hours of Wednesday morning, officers confirmed that the man had been successfully and safely arrested.
Assistant Chef Constable Terry Woods said: "Thanks for community patience and well done for a professional job by Lancashire Police and Lancaster Officers.
"We successfully and safely arrested this Male in the early hours after a 27 hour incident.
"Particular thanks to Police negotiators who worked tirelessly to resolve."
