A RESIDENT at the former Calderstones complex assaulted four female members of staff in a month.

Blackburn magistrates heard Amy Yvette Roberts had previous convictions for similar offences.

Roberts, 25, of Merseycare NHS Trust, Mitton Road, Whalley, pleaded guilty to four offences of assault. She was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £30 compensation to three of the victims and £50 to the other.

Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said Roberts had gouged the arms of one of the victims with her nails, bit one on the back, scratched another on the neck and repeatedly punched the last after dragging to the floor by her hair.

Imran Hussain, defending, said his client knew the difference between right and wrong and knew she shouldn't have assaulted the members of staff.

"The staff tell me that recently she has been quite settled and has behaved better," said Mr Hussain. "She is already detained for longer than these courts could ever consider and is receiving all the help available."
