HYNDBURN MP Graham Jones has taken the temperature of local small firms.

He met bosses and entrepreneurs from the borough and Haslingden at a special round table event at Church's Elmfield Hall.

Organised by the Federation of Small Businesses, the afternoon discussed local business issues, including local skills coordination, aspirations and Accrington town centre.

Mr Jones said, “It was great to meet with small businesses and the round table discussions were extremely useful. Late payments and local strategic business planning were just some of the problems that we covered. Local businesses are vital to our communities; they are our wealth creators. Our small businesses need support and I will carry on pressing for progress.”

Meeting chair Paul Foster, the FSB 's development manager for Lancashire and Cumbria said: “Thanks to Mr Jones for understanding the importance of small businesses to the Hyndburn economy.”
