MORE than 50 Porsche drivers will take part in an 83-mile drive across Lancashire to raise funds for the Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

The Red Rose Run will start from the Porsche Centre in Preston on Sunday and will finish at Stonyhurst College in Hurst Green for the weekend’s classic car show.

Drivers throughout Lancashire and Yorkshire, and as far away as Northamptonshire, are expected to take part. The cars are to be flagged off by Preston’s mayor, Cllr David Borrow at the start line at the Porsche Centre in Watery Lane.

The route will offer a scenic drive through the Ribble Valley.

David Baker, from Porsche Club GB Lancashire Region, said: “The Red Rose Run has become a firm favourite in our club diary. It’s the perfect blend of friendship, beautiful scenery and iconic motoring.

“We are especially grateful that the Mayor has agreed to attend and set us off and to Porsche Centre Preston for hosting our members before the journey. This year’s event is especially important because our beneficiary, Rosemere Cancer Foundation, has assisted several Porsche Club GB members and their families over the years.”
