FINANCIAL education is being offered to children and their families at the Yorkshire Building Society branch in Blackburn during the summer holidays.

The King William Street branch will hold a number of 'Money Minds' sessions to children aged five to 11.

The free educational programme consists of activities and projects designed to help youngsters learn about money and promote discussion about it to their parents.

Clare Baron, branch manager at the Blackburn branch, said: "We know summer holidays can be an expensive time for parents so we wanted to offer some fun and free activities for children in Blackburn.

"Learning how to effectively manage finances is a vital life skill.

"We really want to engage children and adults in the area to start conversations about money and the sessions will enable them to test and expand their vocabulary and understanding of money through our activities."

The events will take place on Friday's between 11am and noon, with the first one taking place this Friday.
