A BIG-HEARTED Burnley fundraiser made a young boy's dream come true by buying him an electric wheelchair.

Seamus McLaughlin was visiting his native Donegal for a holiday back in the 80s, when he met 10-year-old Frank Larkin, who suffered from spina bifida.

He was so touched by the meeting that he decided to raise a whopping £1,000 to buy Frank a special wheelchair.

Mr McLaughlin managed to raise the money when he and his friend, James Green, completed a sponsored run from Burnley to Manchester.

He even paid for Frank and his parents, Frank and Brighdin, to travel from Ireland to Burnley so he could present him with the wheelchair.

The ceremony and handing over took place at Lucas Club in Burnley, and this photo from our archives shows just how ecstatic young Frank was in receiving his gift.
