A GROUP of young Swedish ‘ambassadors’ arrived in their ‘twin town’ of Oswaldtwistle in May 1969.
The visitors, from Falkenberg, are members of Boljan Foodball Club and during their five-day stay will be playing six matches with Oswaldtwistle Rovers Junior FC and Oswaldtwistle Old Boys.
In the picture, Catherine Hogan of Edinburgh Drive and Helen Hindle of Union Road, Oswaldtwistle were presented with Victorian posies by Bernice Anderson and Eva Dahlgren who were two members of the Swedish visiting group to Oswaldtwistle.
The party were delayed at the customs in Immingham as they had brought with them as exhibition of goods manufactured in Falkenberg without first informing authorities.
The Swedish party were welcomed by officials of the Oswaldtwistle joint twinning committee.
