EAST Lancashire's Stonyhurst College will host a visit from The Great British Food Festival for three days over the August Bank Holiday.

It is one of 13 venues around the UK this summer which the celebration of home-grown produce, menus and recipes is visiting this year.

The event from August 24 to 26 will be held at Stonyhurst for the sixth year running.

The line-up at the school near Clitheroe includes over 75 best British producers and street food vendors, celebrity chef demonstrations, talks, kids cookery lessons, live music, a ‘Cake Off’ competition and ‘Men v Food’ challenges, and a new BBQ stage.

Dan Maycock, festival director, said, “We’re thrilled to be back in Lancashire and at Stonyhurst, it’s a stunning setting with a great crowd .

"We are really keen to push things on for 2019, hence we have more activities going on and a great line-up of chefs.’

"The main chef demo area hosts great local and tv chefs. All demos are free.

"There are also regular Artisan Foodie talks, and foraging walks."

Howard Middleton, a judge for the ‘Cake Off’ said, ‘I love doing the demos and the cake off is great fun, it’s brilliant to see what the public can do!’
