ORDERING Friday night tea from The Chippery or going out on the town to Liquid can only mean one thing — you grew up in Blackburn.
Here we take a trip down memory lane with a list of 20 things that only true Blackburn-ians would understand.
There are bound to be countless more so feel free to send in your own suggestions for the list of all things Blackburn.
1. Going to Waves for a birthday party was quite possibly the best invite you could get all year.
2. Unless the Wave machine was broken, which largely involved swarming around in lukewarm water.
3. Going to King George’s Hall for the yearly pantomime was always on the cards.
4. Jumping over the oddly-shaped boulders outside the bank on Higher Church Street.
5. Walking what felt like miles to Steals on King Street for a good old rummage and a bargain.
6. Trying to figure out who on earth Kerry McKenna was, from the graffiti along the M65 bridge.
7. Going to Tiggis for your 16th birthday meal was a must.
8. You are naturally programmed to dislike everything about Burnley.
9. Realising that the only acceptable place to go for chips and gravy was The Chippery.
10. Utopia was the place to head for a cheeky snog.
11. Being devastated when Liquid closed its doors for the final time.
12. Wondering what the old coffee shop in The Mall would be called every time it re-opened, before it turned into a Burger King.
13. Getting completely lost and feeling as though you’d never find your car in the maze that is The Mall car park.
14. Spending your days walking around Witton Park and grabbing an ice cream even in the rain.
15. Getting a picture with the infamous Grandmother and Child statue...

16. Until it randomly disappeared in 2014 whilst they developed the surrounding area…
17. Before coming back again in its new spot.
18. Not realising how steep Shear Brow is until you’re actually on it.
