Two friends of Megan Lee, the 15-year-old who tragically died after having an allergic reaction to a takeaway, are to complete a skydive in her memory.

Since Megan died in 2017, her friend, Olivia Walmsley, has been raising money and awareness for the Anaphylaxis Campaign.

The 17-year-old from Oswaldtwistle has taken part in a fun run and an event called 'Night at the Musicals', which was organised by Megan's family.

And in April 2018, Miss Walmsley and two other friends also organised a family fun night at Oswaldtwistle Civic theatre which had a disco, cake sale, tombola and raffle.

However, on August 31, Miss Walmsley and her friend, Olivia Staveley, also 17, will be stepping out of their comfort zones to complete a sky dive.

Miss Walmsley said: "I met Megan when I was 12 when I joined the theatre company ‘React Academy of Theatre Arts’ in Oswaldtwistle.

"We attended drama and musical theatre classes and participated in shows together.

"We very quickly became great friends as I realised what a kind, caring, lovely and amazing young lady Megan was.

"Before Megan’s death I had no idea that allergies could even be life-threatening or of the severity of an Anaphylactic shock which is why myself and my best friend Olivia Staveley are making every effort we can to raise money and awareness of allergies and The Anaphylaxis Campaign.

"I'm so grateful to Olivia for doing the skydive with me as I know I wouldn’t have the courage to do it alone.

"Olivia helped me when I was trying to cope with Megan’s death and stuck by me and supported me during the toughest time of my life as I dealt with the horror of the unexpected death of a true friend who I will love and miss always."

Up to now the girls have raised more than £1,100 and are hoping to raise a lot more once they complete the skydive.

Miss Walmsley's mother, Joann said: "I am incredibly proud of the girls.

"I know Olivia still misses Megan and thinks about her every day.

"I'm pleased she's continuing to support the Anaphylaxis Campaign, although I have to admit I am a little nervous about the sky dive.

"Olivia’s friendship with Olivia Staveley has been a real comfort to her over the last couple of years.

"I'm glad the girls will have the support of each other by doing the jump together."
